DWD have recently had success in reducing the Business Rates assessments of a landmark City of London office building.
The property, known as Beaufort House, is owned by a client and several floors were occupied by another longstanding DWD client. Following on from successes in the 2010 Rating List, DWD were instructed to review the Valuation Office Agency’s assessments of Rateable Value in the building in order to mitigate both occupational costs and empty property rates liability for our Freehold owning client.
Following a detailed review of rental evidence, DWD commenced negotiations with the VOA and in November 2023 were able to secure alterations to the Rating List at reduced levels of value. The reduced basis of value has now been secured across our clients’ assessments with total RV reduction amounting to c. £1.15m.

Our sole aim, through proactive management of our portfolio of clients’ properties, is to secure the lowest reasonable level of business rates liability that is possible.
